Lingerie Body: Post Baby
via Eve’s Apples Lingerie Blog by EvesApples on 3/15/08
By now most of you have probably seen Maggie Gyllenhaal’s lingerie photos from last fall for Agent Provacateur. What many of you may not know is that at the time the photos were taken, Maggie had an 11-month old child, Ramona, with Peter Sarsgaard. She looks damn good for a woman who just had a baby! Heck, she looks amazing for a woman who has never had a baby! Many of us haven’t been as fortunate as Maggie to have such a great lingerie figure so soon after delivery.
What does a woman do who wants to get back in shape after a baby and look fabulous in lingerie?
Step One: Nutrition & Portion Control
If you change a few simple habits regarding nutrition and food portions, then you can have a large impact over time with your figure. Some of the most helpful I’ve found are the following:
- Bye Bye Sugar. If you can’t go cold turkey, then start off slowly like cutting out all sugary sodas and try eating fresh fruit for dessert
- After 6 p.m. only drink water or eat fruit or vegetables
- Watch your snacking. Make sure that you aren’t snacking on the left overs from the baby
- Put your food on a smaller plate, it makes the potion look bigger and will make you think that you ate more
Step Two: Exercise
- Get your body moving! If you can run five miles, then do it. But, if you’re like most women after a baby, take it at a pace that feels good for you. I know some women who could only walk out to the mail box after having a child and years later have worked up to marathons and triathlons. Sometimes baby steps are best, even for us grown ups.
Step Three: Drink Lots of Water
- Water replenishes your body, helps it maintain itself and curbs hunger cravings. It also makes your skin look radiant and glowing. Water is key to loosing weight and looking great!
Step Four: Buy Yourself a Pair of Priceless Panties!
- Know that you’ll get back to your pre-baby body but treat yourself in the meantime–without the calories! Find a pair of priceless panties that flatter your figure and make you feel like a million bucks. It will do wonders for your self-image and be an incentive to help you loose the extra baby weight!

Congratulations to Maggie for looking so stunning post-baby! For the rest of us, I hope we’re all as fortunate as Maggie in our post-delivery days! In the meantime, be kind to yourself, know you’ll get your shape back, and celebrate your inner Eve!

I highly recommend checking in with Eve’s Apples Lingerie Blog regularly. They have cool contests and great articles like the one above!
Beauty: Favorite Mascaras
Right now my favorite mascara is DiorShow Mascara by Dior. I’m all about the volume when it comes to mascara! I love thick, dark lashes and this one seems to do the trick.
A comparable, lower-end version of this would be Lash Blast by Cover Girl.
I’m curious to hear what YOUR favorite mascara is? What are you currently using?

Another fun Boudoir Shoot Look
As I have said before, accessories are EVERYTHING in photo shoots. Just look how the right belt, jewelry & shoes can transform even the simplest camisole & panty set!
Teen Portraits
I LOVE doing teen portrait sessions! They have so much healthy confidence and are absolutely unafraid of trying fun poses. Here are a few I took of Brittany recently.

Traveling Suite Boudoir – The Viceroy – Palm Springs & Santa Monica
Eventually I would like to be able to offer out of town services for ladies needing boudoir photographs. I would envision doing tour dates of sorts, with advanced booking. So, if you don’t live in Vegas but are interested in me coming to your city, please leave me a comment or send me an email inquiring. I might be able to set something up.
One of the first places I would like to go is The Viceroy in Palms Springs and the one in Santa Monica! Both designed by my favorite interior designer, Kelly Wearstler, they are gorgeous!

Haute Hobo!
OMG this is such a fun bag with such an edge to it. I think I am a little obsessed with stud detailing at the moment! The size would be great for lugging my camera around, that’s for sure.

Luscious Lashes
One of the most important accessories you can have for a boudoir photo session is fake eyelashes! These add so much to your look in photos. I absolutely insist on these for every single photo shoot!

Business Cards
Things are coming together! Placed an order for my new Haute Shots Boudoir Photography business cards last night! Can’t wait to receive them!

California Trip
A few random images from our recent trip to California…

Quiet on the Set – Venice Beach

TART - Cute little restaurant called Tart, next to the Farmer’s Daughter hotel…across from the Farmer’s Market in L.A. Really liked this place…great service, cute atmosphere, and good food! The next week it was featured on an episode of ‘The Hills’.

Jesus & Gene Simmons Grab a Coffee Together -
I tried to be sneaky & fast with this shot (which is why the pic is blurry). Apparently I wasn’t as sneaky as I thought…they are looking right at me in this pic!

Apparently this was part of the original King Kong set…it was actually quite small. Universal Studios tour.
Boudoir Photography Inspiration

Wow…Lisa Rinna looks AMAZING at 45 years of age (or any age for that matter!) in the new issue of Playboy. I may have to start a subscription to this magazine for more boudoir inspiration. I always suggest the Playboy look when it comes to hair & makeup for my clients.

Dream a Little Dream
Many of you may have noticed that my blog has been turning in a different direction…more oriented towards Boudoir Photography. Why might this be? Well, I have finally decided what I want to be when I grow up!
In all seriousness, last August I was laid off from my job as a graphic designer, thrown into the cold in the worst job market fathomable. While I began slipping into a depression at first, I quickly roused myself out of the darkness in search of my own personal light. I decided that being laid off was an opportunity to rediscover myself and what I most wanted to do professionally. I also found that any negativity wasn’t helping at all and that I needed to remain positive in order for good things to begin coming my way. And begin to happen they did…almost immediately.
After having experimented with nature photography, product photography, portrait photography and concert photography, I became interested in boudoir photography for women (over a year ago) and shot a few boudoir sessions for friends but suddenly I began getting calls from perfect strangers asking about my boudoir services. With each new session I surprised even myself at how much I was growing, learning and gaining confidence as a professional photographer! And with each new client came another referral after they heard what a great experience their friend had and after seeing the resulting images from their shoots. That is when I had my ‘a-ha’ moment that I might be able to support myself doing what I love!
I have been working very hard (with Joe, who is doing so very much to help make my dreams come true) on the new website, this new blog, new marketing materials and the new name for my new photography business (Haute Shots) focusing on boudoir! I am super excited about this and really hope that it will do well.
Thank you to everyone…family, friends & CLIENTS (you ladies ROCK!) who have helped make this a possibility!

Boudoir for Mother’s Day
This Mother’s Day give your beautiful wife a gift that is all about HER (that you will end up enjoying too!). She wears many hats and plays so many roles on a daily basis, why not let her have a day of glamour? Make her feel special with the ultimate gift of a boudoir photo session. Gift Certificates are available. May 10th is fast approaching so act now!

Suite Boudoir Shoots
I had the pleasure of doing two unbelievably fun suite boudoir shoots over the weekend. These two were smokin’ HOT! Thank you both for a glamorous & girly day! Introducing Lady M & Lady L!

Family Fun
Such a great day yesterday! My entire family (my son Austin and my mother Judy), along with Joe and his daughter, Brittany, headed out to the Red Rock area for a picnic at Spring Mountain Ranch. We toured a ranch owned by Howard Hughes after our lunch, then headed to Bonnie Springs/Old Nevada for some wild west fun!

The Summer Music Festival Look
Love looking through the Music Festival Trends at ShopBop! So summery, so rock, so fun!

Found this little number in there too, that would be really cute with the right accessories for a boudoir shoot!

Sweet Engagement Story
I love hearing how couples became engaged…especially when the husband really planned out something special. Jessica Claire’s engagement story is really sweet. Read about here. Jessica, by the way, is one of my favorite CA wedding photographers.

Epicurean Affair
Another annual Vegas event I have always wanted to check out, but haven’t is the Epicurean Affair, held this year at The Flamingo on Thursday, April 23rd.

Speaking of The Flamingo, have you seen their fairly newish GO Rooms? Swanky! reasonably priced, too!

UNLVino

UNLV’s annual UNLVino is fast approaching. This is something I have always wanted to go to but just never got around to doing. Might have to wait another year (again). Have any of you been to this local event?

Getting to Know YOU!
I’m always interested in getting to know who is reading my blog. I think of this blog as a relationship of sorts…not just as a means of communicating with my clients but with anyone who finds interest in what I am posting here.
I’d like to take this opportunity to get to know all of YOU now. Please leave a comment and tell me a little about yourself. I’d love to see your blogs and websites too! So, don’t be shy in promoting yourself here.
A few questions to help get you started:
Where do you live?
Where are you originally from?
What do you do for work?
What do you do for fun?
Do you have your own blog or website? If so, what is the url?
What are a few of your favorite blogs or websites?
And a few questions to help me make my blog of more value to you:
How did you come across my blog?
What would you like to see more or less of here?
Are you a regular reader of my blog or is this your first time stumbling upon it?
I might even do a feature on one of you here sometime in the near future.
