I took my very first Pole Dancing Class last night and LOVED it! I always thought it sounded like a fun way to get fit, but was always too shy to actually go through with taking a class. I’m so glad I got over that shyness though because this class was a total blast!
The class I took was at the Pole Fitness Studio across from Palm’s Place. I took the Level 1 Pole Class with Fawnia as the instructor (thats her in the picture above – absolutely gorgeous, huh?). They have lots of other classes such as Lap Dance, Go-Go Dancing, and even a co-ed Pole Class, which Fawnia said only 1 guy (the same guy every time) ever shows up to.
Fawnia was an amazing instructor! She was so much fun, she explained everything thoroughly and actually made it pretty easy for us to learn all of the different moves. By the end of the class she had taught us a whole routine. And she was inspirational to watch. She just glided with the pole and her movements were naturally sexy.
This class made it okay for us to be sexy. I don’t know about you, but I have always been a little hesitant to look or act too sexy. Women are sexy though, plain and simple…we all have that in us. We just sometimes need a class like this to give us the push to free our sexy side.
Taking this class also made me think of the wonderful women I photograph. Most of you do boudoir pictures for your guys and this might be a fun thing to do for him also. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind a sexy little dance as you present him with the gorgeous album of your boudoir images. But also, I thought of how the moves we learned in class are very similar to how I pose my clients. I usually ask for body movements such as hip thrusts and back arches…all of which are taught in this class. This could be a good way to prepare for your photo shoot!
You can get more information about the awesome Pole Fitness Studio here and more information on the fabulous Fawnia here. I definitely plan on going back for more classes! Hope to see you there too!

Yay! That was the same studio I went to for my sister’s bachelorette party! My personal favorite moves: the Sexy Frog and the Dirty Bunny… or at least that’s what we ended up calling them!
Thanks Stacey. I really enjoyed having you in class, and I am pleased to read you had FUN!
You are very correct in saying that dancing can prepare you for modeling; especially when it comes to exotic dancing. Often when I am modeling I feel as though I am performing an extremely slow dance, fast enough for the camera.
Hey Kat, The moves you like are actually called The Sexy Frog, and the Peek-A-Boo Bunny. (Dirty Bunny is cute though!)
See you all at the studio!
Stacie, let’s think of Stacey as being your “stage name.” Thanks again.
