Happy New Year from Haute Shots

Wow….what a year 2009 has been. I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for helping to make this girl’s dreams come true. I found my calling (finally) this past year and because of you have been able to turn it into a business. I am grateful each and every day that I am now doing what I love! I had no idea when I started Haute Shots that it would grow this quickly. I have my many wonderful clients to thank for that. You all ROCK!

I’m starting the new year off by reevaluating all of my processes and making appropriate changes…mostly to back-end things for better organization. Lots of goals for 2010 business-wise and I have some REALLY exciting things in store that I absolutely cannot wait to reveal! Aside, from the business goals, I have the usual personal ambitions, like getting back into a regular routine at the gym. I have been slacking big time since the holidays started! What are some of your goals for 2010?

Thank you again for an amazing 2009. Here’s to an even better 2010! (Maybe this will be the year I finally get over my fear of opening bottles of champagne!)

Cheers!!!

Beauty Inspiration: Makeup for New Year’s Eve or a Boudoir Shoot!

Kim Kardashian always has the loveliest eye makeup. I’m loving this look on her with the pretty fuschia lip-color….not sure if I could pull it off, but maybe you can? It would be perfect for a New Year’s Eve celebration! Click here for complete details from her makeup artist, Troy Jensen on how to create the look yourself. He has a really great site loaded with instructions on achieving different looks with makeup!

Season’s Greetings!

Hope you all are enjoying the hustle and bustle of the holiday season so far! This past weekend was the most festive one for me so far. Aside from celebrating by birthday on Friday, we attended Joe’s company holiday party. Had a blast! I am tied to the computer day and night this time of year so it was nice to take a break and get all dressed up for the occasion.

What all have you been doing to celebrate the season? Have you finished all of your holiday shopping yet?

XOXO

P.S. I will be showing previews of some of the shoots I have done lately AFTER Christmas. I don’t want to ruin any surprises my clients are giving this year! And, I am concentrating on getting orders processed and created in time for the holiday.

A Fabulous Birthday!

Thank you to everyone involved with helping to make this years birthday the best one ever! It was on Friday and it was jam-packed with activities! I got to have light lunch at Dos Camino’s in the Palazzo with my good friend Jennifer from High School and her husband Ken. Ken was treating Jenn to a trip to Vegas for her birthday! Afterwards we went shopping in Sephora. I had wanted to try the Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation but after the makeup girl tried two applications on me and couldn’t get the color right, I decided to wait and go to the Sephora in Town Square soon. Not sure why they always want to darken my skin and make it more yellow. I just want a foundation to match my skintone, no matter how fair it might be…I can add color with bronzer or blush. Speaking of blush, I found the most amazing shade….Soul by LORAC.

Then I had another light lunch with my Mom and Austin. My Mom made the most amazing recipe for meatloaf…it had spinach in it and was so yummy. They gave me lots of little goodies….the cutest dresses (one of which I wore later that night), bath salts, etc.

And, finally, came home and got ready and Joe surprised me with pre-dinner drinks at Fleur de Lys (Mandalay Bay). Really elegant atmosphere and the yummiest Blood Orange Margaritas! Joe and I had just mentioned how quiet the place was, how everyone seemed to whisper there, when I look up and see our friend Wendell walking in carrying the most enormous red bags and to top it off, he was wearing huge red bows! So cute!. Inside the bag were two pinatas with all kinds of fun party favors! The best part though was the vintage 1999 bottle of Dom Perignon that he gave me. Totally saving that for a special occassion! We proceeded to have a really nice dinner at China Grill and then went dancing at the Foundation Room for a bit.

Joe gave me the nicest gifts this year…jewelry from Tiffany’s and a Gift Card to Bebe’s (I got the 3 top items you see below-handbag, shoes and top)! And my friend Lauren, who knows about my affinity for interior designer Jonathon Adler, bought me a pair of his Bird Salt & Pepper shakers…tooo freakin’ cute! I am such a happy girl and so fortunate to have such great people in my life to help me celebrate getting older!

Checking In

Just wanted to let you all know that I will be away from the office for a bit. While it is incredibly difficult to pry me away from my computer these days, due to my heavy holiday work-load, I still have shoots to do! I have a pretty exciting burlesque themed shoot today…can’t wait!

And, tomorrow is my birthday! So, I have some running around to do. Places to be, people to see and things to do! Woohoo! I will be working periodically throughout the weekend though.

Please feel free to email me at info@hauteshots.net and I will get back to you just as soon as possible.

XOXO

Inspired: Photographer Yu Tsai for Muse Magazine

How was I unaware of this photographer before now? Yu Tsai has a pretty amazing body of work. I really like this new Lindsey Lohan project he did for Muse Magazine shot at the Chateau Marmont (love that place). Nice way to tie video in with the stills. The video is pretty darned sexy, probably not something you want to watch at work. Lindsey really has some great expressions in it. She is definitely not afraid to show her sexy side in this! I was instantly smitten with the song used in it. Added it to my playlist for our boudoir shoots. :-)

Listen Up Guys!

Boudoir is not just a gift for women to give their husbands, but it’s one of the best gifts a guy can give to his girl! What better way to show her how beautiful you think she is than to have that beauty captured forever with a boudoir photo session…not to mention the primping and pampering from Hera Beauty she will enjoy too!

A Haute Shots Boudoir Photography Session would make the perfect gift this Christmas! Contact me at info@hauteshots.net for more information or to purchase a photo session gift card. Make it a sexy season this year!

Just listen to what this happy husband had to say after giving his wife the gift of boudoir:

“Where do I begin? I contacted Haute Shots originally to set up a boudoir shoot as a surprise for my wife. I had looked at a few other shooters and while their work was good, there just seemed to be a little something extra in your work. I couldn’t put my finger on it then, and a name for it eludes me still. The best way to describe it would be is that their work didn’t seem natural. It seemed to be reaching too far just to be edgy…too industrial, too masculine almost. To use a literary comparison…the other shooters’ shots seemed to be telling a story, but one where the subject is in the first person…very much in your face, very aware of the reader’s presence.

On the other hand, the story you write is third person…we enter the story and observe the subject in their natural state. Your subjects don’t seem to notice we’re out here watching and reading. And in the occasional moments when they do seem aware, the glances are fleeting and playful. Your work is sensual and incredibly feminine. The soft curves, teasing expressions, excellent lighting and clever use of depth of field…it all combines to tell a great story.

From those early conversations to the actual shoot and beyond, you made the work easy and enjoyable. Everything from the suite to your hair/makeup team combined to make the day all about her. With your easy-going manner, quick laughter and ability to put my wife at ease, I knew she would be in good hands after you all kicked me out of the shoot.

Fast forward to now – I just got back from a business trip, and my wife had received the book you prepared for us (by the way…if you don’t upgrade the size of your book, you will greatly regret it). I was eager to get home quickly to see what her “story” would be. The simple black box. The classy and thoughtful packaging touches inside. The black leather book. It was beyond words. Simply put…holy moly schmoly, it rocks! Each turn of the page brought an even bigger smile to my face and a deeper wonderment of my gorgeous wife. In some shots, she knows I’m here looking…in others, I’m watching her enjoy being herself. Her eyes and expressions range from innocent to playful to sultry. Every time I see those eyes (I think you know which picture I mean…), I fall in love all over again.

I always knew my wife was beautiful, but these shots let me know that she’s aware of that beauty. I would daresay the time she spent with you changed the way she sees herself. Thank you. You truly have a gift.”

Inspired: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

vs

Did any of you watch the Vicoria’s secret Fashion Show last night? I did, and loved it as always! It always has a strange side-effect for me, as I find myself getting a little teary-eyed watching it. But I sometimes weep when I am excited by creativity and beauty. Weird, huh? Oh heck, I’m just a sensitive girl, what can I say?

Anyway, in case you missed it, you can view it in it’s entirety here. There is never an uninspired moment. If you are looking for ideas for wardrobe for your next boudoir shoot, take special note how they never just leave a VS outfit to star on it’s own. It is all about creating drama with the accessories.

Just a little update

I have been so busy lately…photo shoots, Thanksgiving, boudoir marathon and lots & lots & lots of orders…that I haven’t had a chance to update the blog properly. Sorry about that! I am working my hardest at getting caught up on everything so I can start sharing more gorgeous shots from recent shoots again, so keep an eye out for hot imagery coming soon.

One thing I wanted to mention is that now is a great time to start considering doing a boudoir shoot for Valentine’s Day. Book your session in December to ensure you get your products in time for the big day! Email me at info@hauteshots.net for more info or to schedule your session.
