It’s been awhile since I posted a What’s Sexy Now installment. I thought posting one now would be a great way to ring in the New Year! This one features a very special guest, someone I have admired for some time now for her amazing fashion sense as well as her mad writing skills…the lovely, Laura Coronado.
What makes a woman sexy?
I think self-love makes a woman sexy. A woman who loves herself unconditionally – body and soul – is a woman who exudes sex appeal. And frankly, a woman who loves herself is easy to fall in love with. Confidence, strength, resilience and self-belief also make a woman sexy, but these things all stem from self-love.
Famous female that most embodies sexy to you:
Right now I think Sofia Vergara is the sexiest woman on earth. She laughs and smiles a lot. You can tell she is loving her life, and that’s super sexy. I also think Rita Moreno and Sophia Loren from the 1960s era were extremely sexy. Voluptuous with dark exotic features, that’s what I want to look like as a woman.
Favorite sexy film or literature (or both):
The 1980s movie “Two Moon Junction” always sets me on fire. The tale of a pristine southern belle falling for a muscular, rugged, manly man who drives a rig and works at carnival and gets her to explore her passions and desires just really appeals to me. It’s like a naughty fairytale. Forbidden lust is hot.
Song or Album that never fails to put you in a sexy mood:
The song “Say Goodbye” by Dave Matthews never fails to get me in the mood. Again, the theme is forbidden lust. The song is about platonic friends who are attracted to each other allowing themselves one night of pleasure together and saying goodbye in the morning, sharing a sexy secret forever. It’s a fantasy I’d love to act out with my hubby. (Grabbing my bucket list now!)
Fashion trend, item or designer collection that you find sexy:
Two words: Tom Ford! And I mean all of it – cosmetics, accessories, fragrance and the women’s fashion. The man is a magician, and everything he does for women is done with the intention of making us feel sexy. He succeeds at that, too!
Sexy destination:
This may sound crazy, but for me, New Orleans is one great town for getting down. I don’t know if it’s the swamp humidity in the air, or the sensual jazz music, or the hurricane cocktail drinks – or all of it combined together! But New Orleans puts me in a really sexy mood.
What makes you feel sexy?
There are three things I do to make me feel sexy, and each is done to put focus on what I think are my three best physical attributes. One, because I have green eyes, I apply my eyeliner as perfectly as possible and wear loads of mascara. This puts extra emphasis on my eyes. My husband loves that and I feel like a sex kitten. Two, I’m luckily, naturally endowed. And I am not shy about showing off the girls. I love revealing a bit of cleavage. It makes me feel very womanly. Lastly, I have a derriere that complements my bust line. So I love to shake my hips while dancing, or jut a hip out while standing or innocently bend over. My husband loves my round behind, and when we’re out together and he rests his hand on the area where my butt protrudes from my lower back, I feel like he’s claiming ownership of it, and that makes me feel irresistible and desirable.

Welcome to the latest installment of my What’s Sexy Now series! So proud to have this month’s guest, Alison Wainwright. Alison is a successful female business owner in our fair city of Las Vegas. She is also an activist for animals, which I love about her! 2010 was a big year for Alison as she was named one of the “40 Under 40” (“40 most ambitious, talented, and influential leaders in Las Vegas under the age of 40″), recognized in SEVEN Magazine as ”Best in the City”, and also received Congressional Recognition for “Recognition of Outstanding Contributions to Business in Southern Nevada”. Confidence makes a woman sexy AND beautiful. There is nothing more attractive than a woman who walks into a room and knows what she wants. I have seen women in all shapes and sizes other than what society tells us is sexy and her confidence turns all heads. You can see a woman who feels confident about who she is from across the room. Natural beauty is also sexy, unaltered natural women are more beautiful. A woman can be sexy in sweats, its all about inner beauty.
- Famous female that most embodies sexy to you:
Nicole Panattoni may not be super famous, but some people know her from America’s Next Top Model and The X Life. Nicole is the wife of Cory Nastazio, pro-BMX rider. I have aways thought Nicole embodies sexy. She is down to earth, has natural beauty, and seems like a very sweet, all American girl. She seems very sweet but she’s on top of her game.
- Favorite sexy film or literature (or both):
I thought that the movie “Unfaithful” was sexy. Though the story is about a married couple and the wife being unfaithful (which is not sexy) there was so much passion and love between the characters. Passion is always sexy.

A quiet restaurant or bar with wine and candlelight always does the job. - What makes you feel sexy?
Compliments are always nice and they will always do the job, but what makes me feel the most sexy is a suit! Wearing a business suit makes me feel confident and beautiful, and always turns heads.

It is rare for me to find boutique style stores in Vegas that I adore, but when I stepped inside Patty’s Closet I fell in love immediately! They carry fashionable items in limited quantity so you can be sure you aren’t going to show up to the same event with 10 other girls wearing the same outfit! I love that! Our date night is always on Wednesdays, when we first started dating, we would just go sit at a bar, sip on a drink & talk, It’s always been the simplest, But sexiest destination to me, till this day. - What makes you feel sexy?

I’m proud to say I’m a Vegas native, & ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of a career in the fashion industry. At the age of 18, I became a single mom to a special needs child…after dealing with many health complications with my son, I decided to become a medical assistant. 8 years ago, I met my husband while we were both working at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, we’ve been together ever since! Perfect for February, the most passionate month of the year, we bring to you Lou Lou Roxy, a fabulous burlesque performer who I recently had the pleasure of getting to see perform at Burlesque Bonanza on our Girl’s Night Out this past weekend! Being on stage performing. It has been an incredible way to get in touch with the more sensual parts of my personality. As someone who was born shy, and curvier than everyone else naturally, It forces me to enjoy my body just as it is.

But Corinna is also an amazing actress, children’s acting teacher, was Playmate of the Year for Playboy, and is a wonderful wife and mother to a beautiful daughter. - What makes a woman sexy?
I think what makes a woman exude sexiness is all within. Poise, self esteem, (without arrogance of course). The sexiest women I know are completely content with who they truly are as a person. Usually putting others above themselves (mother’s, caretakers, girlfriends, teachers, professionals in a myriad of fields), yet not forgetting about what makes them happy. They have a freedom of expression all their own, and become almost flirtatious with it- because of their own inner happiness. There is power in a woman’s sexuality- and sexuality comes from being genuinely who you are. No pretenses… just confidence with a blend of that perfect humility and poise…
- Famous female that most embodies sexy to you:
One person who immediately pops into my head is Meryl Streep. In every role she plays she brings this certain sexiness as described in my idea of “What makes a woman sexy”. Being an actress myself, I know that you must bring your own essence to each character. She does this so well and does not disappoint, in every character I’ve ever seen her play. And age has nothing to do with sexiness, contrary to what many believe. If you are a woman and you truly are happy with the person you are, your genuine self, you will be sexy until the day you die… whoever you are.
- Favorite sexy film or literature (or both):
I am not a big reader of novels… I do however love a good “self help” book. One of my favorites is “Mama Gina’s School of Womanly Arts”. It’s a whimsical, fun and adorable book that helps women to pretty much “get their sexy on” – doesn’t matter what you weigh or again, how old you are. Say it with me, “If you are female, you are desirable”… (not that males aren’t) but femininity is something to be celebrated. On that note, a film that just surfaced to memory is “Two Moon Junction”… a semi “B” film, yet something about that film got me fired up when I was only a teen! Most recently, a film that I ADORE is “Leap Year”- very sexy. And, to me romance is what is the sexiest thing of all. I LOVE romantic movies!!! From something as adorable as “enchanted” to something as deep and raw as “Officer and a Gentleman”, I also LOVE “Sense and Sensibility” and “Gone with the Wind”… “Bridges Over Madison County”, “It’s Complicated”, so many black and white films – too many for me to list… “Pitcher and the Pin Up” (ha! I just had to say that!).
- Song or Album that never fails to put you in a sexy mood:
Jazz does it for me – especially Brazilian Jazz. The sexiest album of all time for me is Sarah Tavares “Balance” – just amazing. Her voice transports me to Rio and in the arms of my red hot lover (who happens to be my husband of course). But there are a few sides to me, so it depends on my mood. I absolutely LOVE George Straight and the country girl in me can get in a sexy mood just by hearing that man. Truly too many sexy songs to list. But on my wilder carnal side – I cannot help but be a bit turned on by Kings of Leon, and I admit it, damn it!
- Fashion trend, item or designer collection that you find sexy:
I have very eclectic taste, but I have always loved vintage inspired clothing. I love true vintage clothes and coats. Right now being winter I imagine something with a 20’s-40’s flair, fitted like a dress, with pleats and an hour-glass shape. Adorable detailed buttons down the front. Wool, but lined with an amazingly soft satin lining. Warm but elegant. With a pair of Casadei 5096 Platform pumps. Maybe a tiny simple cocktail dress underneath, and the perfect shade of deep satin garnet lipstick, Nars Afghan Red.
- Sexy destination:
I think these days with all the running around and busyness in my life- the sexiest destination for me would be anywhere I can wind down and RELAX. Right now I really long to sit on a beach somewhere, anywhere. Rio, Hawaii, California! But I also love the warmth of a cabin with a fire inside when the cold is outside. Recently my husband and I went up to the Mt. Charleston Lodge just to get away. We have also enjoyed some amazing places, like a Hotel in Beaver Creek, right up the road from Vail, Colorado… at both of these places- the snow outside makes it so cozy, and to me, nothing is sexier than being with the person you love snuggled up in front of a fire with a glass of red wine… (Cliché? I don’t care- makes me feel AMAZING) Wherever the destination is, and even when I’m alone- I bring my sexy with me.
- What makes you feel sexy?
Hmmm? I think I feel the sexiest when I have been eating right and working out in general. But when I’m well rested and am wearing something I really feel good in, this is when I feel the sexiest. And whenever I feel good, it seems that this is when I get the most complements, and compliments always make me feel sexy! I am blessed to have a husband who is constantly telling me that I am the most beautiful woman in the world. However, he could tell me this until he’s blue in the face-and I don’t believe him. But there are times when his words penetrate and I look in the mirror and think, “hey, I am sexy”. On a side note: I feel sexy when I am in the water for some reason? I always say I’m a mermaid (don’t worry- no delusions here – I know that I am not a mermaid and that they do not exist)… but when I think about it – I feel sexiest when I’m swimming, or in a Jacuzzi. It may sound ridiculous, but it’s true. On a houseboat on a lake or on a yacht in the pacific, or just laying on the beach. It might be the warm sun, or the way the water feels? But to me- it makes me feel sexy. I also feel sexy when I feel good about myself. Like after I’ve accomplished a goal I’ve set out to do… I think powerful women are very sexy.
About little about me (Corinna):
I started a production company, Ishah Productions, LLC. with two amazing women. One of them has a ranch in Colorado and the other lives just outside of L.A. Ishah in the Hebrew means “Woman” it is femininity defined. Ishah is the first woman created by God. And so we chose that as our company’s title. We are currently working on a documentary about an amazing woman named Darlene Rose. She was the first white woman (a Christian Missionary) to penetrate the interior of New Guinea and live among cannibals. She was taken POW when the Japanese encroached on the Island and took her and many others to the infamous “work/death camps”. The things she endured are unimaginable. It’s a true story of courage and hope in the face of adversity and hardship. We are also working on the feature film. We hope that this story will inspire and encourage everyone who sees it.
I am also an acting teacher and private coach. I enjoy teaching and training children in the craft of acting. So excited about this installment of What’s Sexy Now! This month we are featuring the lovely Charlotte Mills of Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie. She just launched a brand spankin’ new redesign of her website, so be sure to check it out here.

Q & A with Charlotte::
Why and when did you start Plum Pretty Sugar? Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie lived in my heart for some time before pouring out and over. It was a journey of sorts… a mutation of lessons learned, life changes, heartbreak and inspiration. Like a dream I pieced together in order to find my path, my truth. Throughout this there was this idea of how I wanted to feel… the carefree-ness of breezy happiness, of cozy comfort and with an ease of living beautifully, inspired and with heart. From there came Plum Pretty Sugar.
Where do you get your inspiration from? The idea of inspiration is so interesting me… the deep down feeling of what inspires me and not someone else. I suppose it is that sort of eclectic thinking that moves me. And so to be moved… gosh… it is color, especially in dreams, art, nature. Night-blooming flowers, fashion photography or just a feeling that bubbles up.
Who is your ideal buyer? I like to think that Plum Pretty Sugar speaks to most women. And while not every woman sees the same thing, I think that most find it spirited, heart-full, feminine, maybe bohemian, maybe ethnic, Parisian, Moroccan, island-inspired, maybe 70s hippie-luxe, maybe 60s glam … whatever the case, I hope there is something in it for most. Something that moves them, touches them, lifts their spirits.

The way a woman moves, a look, a certain je ne sais quoi that isn’t necessarily identifiable… a vibration, a feeling that is somehow exuded. That said, I think there is also the dressing of a woman so to speak. The moment in between overly done and undone.
Famous female that most embodies sexy to you. Brigitte Bardot comes up often when we speak about sexiness at Plum Pretty Sugar. Beauty that is pretty, soft, somehow natural without being enticed, made, dramatic.
Favorite sexy film or literature (or both) I’m such a big fan of Anais Nin.The poetry, the sensibility, And goodness… Henry and June!
Song or Album that never fails to put you in a sexy mood. I think this is really something personal but I can say at a recent photo shoot we played a ton of Robin Thicke!
Fashion trend, item or designer collection that you find sexy Lately I have found myself loving L’Wren Scott and British designer, Jenny Packard. We actually recently blogged about them both at Plum Pretty Sugar {Between the Seams} www.plumprettysugar.blogspot.com. I think both really exude that beautiful exquisite sexiness that is played out not in the length of a skirt or the height of a heel but in the drape of a fabric along a body angle, a silhouette that lends more to what is covered than what isn’t.
Sexy destination Oh my! I think sexiness is in keeping that secret. The idea of something sweet, amazing between two people. That intimacy, emotional intimacy.

- What makes a woman sexy?
I think passion, self-esteem, and attitude makes a woman sexy. Sexy doesn’t have to be about big boobs or long hair, it’s all about how you feel and carry yourself. I’ve met plenty of women who look gorgeous but are obsessed with their flaws and I’ve met women who look at their flaws and accept and embrace them! Happiness is the key, and a genuine, happy outlook is always much sexier than the constant search for perfection. (And a lot less tiring, I imagine!) Passion is also sexy- no matter what you are passionate about, from shoes to Star Wars, if it’s something you love, keep loving it and let the world know you love it, even if it requires flying your freak flag high! - Famous female that most embodies sexy to you:
Oh… do I have to just pick one? I love Gwen Stefani for her fashion sense- no one else rocks the platinum blonde pomp, red lips and girl-who-hangs-with-boys attitude. I love Pink for being the badass girl who can ask her man to marry her, looks even hotter with pixie hair, and looks like she’d be fun to have a drink with. And I love Gaga for just putting it all out there, no matter how crazy, no matter what anyone else thinks, and being passionate about her art. - Favorite sexy film or literature (or both):
I don’t know if I really have a favorite, but here are a few that stand out to me! Movie: Boxing Helena- a dark and twisty romance about obsession, deception, and amputation. Book: The Lover- another dark and twisty romance about obsession, an impossible affair, and sexual awakening. Book & TV: True Blood. What’s not to love about Vampires, werewolves and a telepathic waitress? Plus, the show casts the hottest actors. If you’re not watching, you’re missing out! - Song or Album that never fails to put you in a sexy mood:
I think I have to go with some classic albums:
Enigma, MCMXC, A.D. – This album’s moody atmosphere, slow beats and breathy whispers make it an instant sexy classic! There is also something about the French lyrics that just ooze sexy. (Check out this key track: Principles of Lust: Sadeness)
Madonna, Erotica - Madonna released this album and her Sex book around the same time, generating major flack from critics and the general public. Personally, I think this is one of her best albums ever and so, so sexy. In fact, I had to buy this album 3 times because it keeps getting taken from my collection! I am proud to present Kati Walker as our latest guest for the What’s Sexy Now Series. I met Kati awhile back when her very generous husband gave her a photo session with me as a gift. These two have kept in touch with me since then and I am proud to call them good friends now. They are such great people! My name is Kati Walker and I am a Cave Creek artist specializing in children’s wall art and murals. I create custom pieces of acrylic painting on canvas depicting kids’ favorite things: dance wall art, fairy wall art, ballerina wall art, princess wall art, sports wall art, transportation wall art, dinosaur and reptile wall art and much more. I also do large-scale murals depicting some of the same themes. You name it, I can create it!
I also love painting large-scale florals. I love to find beautiful buds or flowers in bloom and re-create in a bold, bright and colorful painting! The pieces are very modern.
My kids are my biggest inspiration. When they were little and I was decorating their rooms, I found it next to impossible to find one of a kind original artwork that was different and cute! I grew up drawing and painting and decided to shift my focus to children’s artwork. Decorating my children’s bedrooms turned into decorating their friends’ bedrooms and so on.
I absolutely love what I do and adore being able to add that special touch to a child’s bedroom, a new nursery or any room in the house.

To me, a sexy woman is one who is confident, classy and stylish….and not only in the fashion sense. I mean, of course, a stylish outfit is hot but one can exude sexiness crawling out of bed, hair rumpled, tank top and shorty shorts if you know what I mean. I love self-confident women who are neither stuck up or demeaning but know the power of their own confidence.

Fergie would have to top my list of super sexy women. She is soooo stylish, sophisticated, has an incredible fashion sense and exudes self-confidence. I love her risk taking and “put it out there” attitude.

9 & ½ Weeks would have to be up there as one of the sexiest movies of all time. How could it not? But one of my all time favorites would have to be Pretty Woman and all that the movie embodies: a strong woman coming into her own, becoming self confident, creating her own destiny and ultimately, knowing what she wants that will make her happy and not taking no from anyone.

Lots of hip hop songs are great for getting into that fun and flirty mood…I like Low, Smack That, Next Contestant, Lip gloss, OMG. Pit Bull, Black Eyed Peas, Ne-Yo, Houston, Britney Spears and Katy Perry are hot right now and loads of fun, too.

I think heels are the ultimate accessory. I rarely wear them because I’m tall already, but when I do, it gives me that certain attitude that makes the outfit. I also love tasteful and beautiful, classy jewelry. As for fashion, I love dresses! My closet contains so many LBD’s that were made for going out with the girls or on a date night with my hubby!

Sexy destination? Vegas of course and Mexico. My husband and I frequent both places often. Love hanging at the pools sipping drinks all day then heading out at night for a little dancing…
- What makes you feel sexy?
Pretty clothes and good hair make me feel sexy, especially a good blowout. We all know that good hair makes for a great day! Also, my husband always makes me feel sexy. He makes me feel like the most beautiful princess in the world, pretty much every day.

What’s Sexy Now? Guest 1 – Las Vegas Boudoir
Haute Shots is proud to be starting a new blog series called, What’s Sexy Now featuring smart, fashionable, successful & fabulous women giving their thoughts on what makes a woman sexy and sharing some of their favorite sexy things from films to fashion.
I wanted to kick the series off with the lovely Alison Rubke of the all-too-fabulous blog, Frou Frou Fashionista and owner of one of the most exquisite lingerie boutiques in the US, Faire Frou Frou, (Faire Frou Frou means ‘to show off’ in French – too cute!). She has impeccable taste and I am so happy that she is sharing some of her insights with us all here. And in case you missed Alison’s prior guest spot on Haute Shots, you can find her past post here.

A woman is sexy when she has a positive attitude, a sweet charm, class, confidence and intelligence. Those qualities make a woman beautiful.
When listing the sexy qualities in a woman I was thinking of Sarah Jessica Parker…something about her is just so cool. I love her personality! Or even someone like Grace Kelly…such a beauty with a bit of mystery.
Hmm, sexy film or book? Does Twilight count (LOL!)…I read quite a bit, but nothing too sexy. To be honest, I’m more of a romantic comedy personality. So movies like “Something’s Gotta Give” and “You’ve Got Mail” are my favorites.
Sexy mood music is definitely most R&B music. From “Sexual Healing” Marvin Gaye to “Make Love to You” by Boyz to Men to “Get Off” by Prince to “Nasty Boy” by Christina Aguilera…oh my goodness, there are so many good ones! However, in our lingerie boutique we play a lot of flirty music from Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe which is provocative in a fun way.
The ultimate sexy item is thigh high/stockings with a garter & high heels (Louboutins of course!). Being a lingerie boutique owner, I understand the importance of lingerie boosting your mood. Some incredibly hot designers right now are Lascivious and Damaris…both are tastefully daring! When you see someone like Dita von Teese perform and use her stockings as a prop, you really get an idea of how sexy lingerie can be. On a completely different note, I find black & white photography very sexy…just take a look at anything by Ellen von Unwerth and you will understand!
I think a sexy destination is a place that is visually stimulating with a lot of rich history and beautiful architecture. Places like Paris, London, Vienna and Amsterdam come to mind.
The boost of confidence certainly comes from creating a good presentation of myself. From a light perfume to a darling bra to pretty jewels and accessories. I really enjoy developing my style and really find joy in fashion. I enjoy finding ways to work lingerie into my outerwear, whether it’s pretty stockings or a statement bra with pretty straps, making these looks work are certainly morale boosters.
