I was so impressed by Mrs F. She is the ultimate full package - an absolute beauty, has the sweetest personality and is as smart as can be! She carried herself with such grace too! She also has a loving husband who came with her to meet me before sending her off to her shoot. (By the way, this is always ok and totally understandable. I am more than happy to meet your loved ones if it puts their minds at ease). As we walked towards the suite for the shoot, I noticed that Mrs F was ‘jingling’. Once in the room, she proceeded to pull out a Mardi Gras mask with little bells on it, hence the ‘jingling’. Her husband had suggested that they bring something of theirs to use in the backdrop for some of her pictures. What a great idea!

Inspired: Iris Apfel
Let’s face it, getting older is a daunting fact of life for any woman. Style icon, Iris Apfel actually makes me look more forward to it though. My grandmother was also a very stylish woman…always knew how to add a little glamour to every outfit. So, bring on the huge eye-glasses and load me up with accessories….elegant & fashionable aging, here I come! I actually think I will be braver with my fashion sense as I age.

Congratulations! | Las Vegas Boudoir
Miss O was an absolute riot - she had wanted to wait for her boyfriend’s birthday to show him her boudoir images from her photo session with me but caved in and let him see her sneak peeks the instant I emailed them to her. The very next day or so he proposed to her! I would like to think these photos played a small part in her adoring boyfriend putting a gorgeous ring on her finger, but the truth is, these two are just head over heels for one another! Did I mention how gorgeous the ring is? Oh my goodness, I absolutely swooned when I saw it. Miss O, you are so deserving of the all the happiness coming your way. I am beyond ecstatic for both of you!
Isn’t Miss O stunning? By the way, some of you may recognize Miss O (it’s Lavey!) from some of your shoots. She fills in for Kat doing makeup on occasion. She is a phenomenal celebrity makeup artist. I always giggle when a client tells her they want their makeup to look like Kim Kardashian’s because LaVey has done makeup for the Kardashian’s on several occasions when they are in Vegas!

Making Some Needed Changes | Las Vegas Boudoir
My Saturdays are usually reserved for cleaning, running errands & hopefully a little fun but yesterday I decided I needed to do a little blog housekeeping too! For too log it had been bothering me…feeling a tad too cluttered with the sidebar and the tiny text. Well, I finally bit the bullet and did away with the sidebar and changed the font for all text so it’s a little easier on the eyes now. The designer in me is now a much happier girl. I hope you all like this change as much as I do!
Because of the sidebar removal, you will now only be able to access the pages and links that were listed there by clicking the PAGES dropdown menu at the top of the blog (as seen in the screenshot below - click twice for larger view). I created a page full of the links for Lingerie Resources, Recommended Stylists and Bridal Resources called Link Love.I will be adding to the link page a lot!

Dream Girl | Las Vegas Boudoir
With the face of an angel and a body that just doesn’t stop, Miss C’s boudoir session was smokin’ hot! She was so at ease in her own skin and I think it shows in her pics, don’t you? Thanks Miss C for a fun and fabulous shoot! You rock!
On another exciting note, this was a brand new venue for me, one I hope to be doing lots more boudoir shoots at! It is called Rumor and it’s a boutique style hotel that Vegas has needed for a long time! Super stylish, with lots of personality and a very accommodating staff, this is the place to stay if you are looking for something a little different. It’s a great place for locals to hang out at too, with a cool bar and restaurant (both with delicious menus) and a pool perfect for lounging with a group of friends - this could very well become my home away from home! Boudoir-Style Art throughout the Ages | Las Vegas Boudoir Photography
Boudoir as an artform is nothing new really. In fact, it’s always been around, it just gets a more modernized facelift every once in awhile. Throughout history we can see it in famous old paintings, early photographs, etc. The biggest difference with boudoir between now and then though besides modernization, is it has been made more affordable in recent years for the everyday woman to be able to experience this luxury service. Back in the Art Deco period, for example, only high society women could commission artists (such as one of my all-time favorite painters, Tamara de Lempicka) to paint them in seductive poses for their personal collection of art. Pretty fabulous, huh? Here are some examples from Tamara that she painted for these well-to-do beauties in the 1920’s (Click on thumbnails for full versions):

A Very Fashionable Girl | Las Vegas Boudoir
Referred by two previous Haute Shots clients (both fabulous gals themselves), the statuesque Mrs. Y decided to do a boudoir shoot after most of her gorgeous tattoo had been completed. I was inspired the second I saw the amazing array of colors in it. But what inspired me even more were her outfit selections! Oh my goodness, were they ever sexy….and creative! I loved how she played with the colors in one of them (blue and orange) - simply gorgeous!

The Magic Number | Las Vegas Boudoir
Four seems to be the magic number for lots of our clients with kiddos. I am constantly amazed at how these beautiful ladies get their bodies back after having four children. A woman’s body is so resilient, isn’t it?
Well Mrs F was no exception, she was in GREAT shape and credits CrossFit for helping her to look as amazing as she does. I’ve heard CrossFit is pretty intense - my son did it for awhile and said it was incredibly difficult but he loved it.
Mrs. F came to me all the way from Florida for her photo session. I thought she looked a lot like Heather Locklear….absolutely gorgeous and had the sweetest personality!

I don’t know you terribly well but I do know that you have talent. I don’t know where you have come from or how far and hard it was to get where you are at today but I do know that God broke the mold after he made you. Your photography is amazing. AMAZING. I know, you know, you do a good thing by taking those pictures but for the women that hire you, you are doing a great service. Every woman deserves a day with you and pictures like yours. You make women feel beautiful and you showcase their inner beauty and outer beauty. Yes, you have your own genre of style in each photo but you also really capture the inner beauty of the women you photograph. In the pictures that I have seen you can see a spark from each woman that is truly their own.
That’s it. I don’t want to sound like a total wierdo. I just think that every now and then some one should tell you just how fabulous you are.
Aww, can someone hand me a tissue now? I am so blessed to get these sorts of letters and to be surrounded by fabulous women who are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside!

I have to admit that my recent session with Mrs H inspired me to want to get into better shape. She was one of the most fit individuals I had ever laid my eyes on. In her early 40’s, she could blow girls in their early 20’s straight out of the water! Not only was she absolutely stunning but she had the sultriest voice and was smart as a whip! And, smart girl that she is, she waited until her late 30’s to get married - when she met the love of her life. A strong & independent woman, Mrs H, you are my idol!

An Ideal Husband | Las Vegas Boudoir
Mr N is an ideal husband. He really knows how to make his wife feel special. While he was coming to Vegas for business, he not only flew his gorgeous wife in because he wanted to share the trip with her, but also lined up a boudoir session for her with Haute Shots and also arranged for hair/makeup by Hera Beauty during her time here!
We had so much fun with Mrs N! She had a spunky, fun personality and it was a pleasure getting to know her. She had the most adorable outfits and shoes that she said her hubby purchased for her. Hello?! I told you he was the ideal husband! He brings her back goodies like that all the time, apparently!

Beyond my Comfort Zone | Las Vegas Boudoir
Last week marked the first attempt of the season of trying on a bikini. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. While I am a fairly thin person….the slightest weight gain can be REALLY noticeable on me. And glaring at myself in that bikini, I knew I had to do something! I desperately wanted to tone up.
Going to the gym though has never given me real results. Maybe I just don’t push myself hard enough there. I knew I needed a place where I could be held accountable. So I started searching for boot camp type programs in parks near my home. I was so excited by what I found…BODY BLAST a 2 week program by MotivFit! They weren’t going to be drill sergeants but more encouraging, meaning I stood no chance of leaving in tears, thankfully! I immediately posted something about the class on facebook to see if anyone else would be interested in going, since I am not good about doing things like this alone. Whitney, the hair stylist for Haute Shots (Hera Beauty) piped in saying she would do it and was registering right then. Oh boy, now I did it. I was completely obligated to do it now!
I have NEVER been a very active person. Because I have been thin (enough) most of my life, I have never had to work very hard to stay that way. But, as I get older I notice that I need to get into better shape…tone up, build endurance, etc. Knowing that this Body Blast workout was going to be INTENSE had me completely freaked out. What if I couldn’t do it? Would I be the only fool not able to run far enough, do the correct amount of sit-ups, pushups, and more? Or what if my heart couldn’t handle it? I never really pushed my body like that before! Well, I am happy to say that I pushed through my near panic attack and took the first step and just showed up to the first class!
As soon as I pulled up I felt relieved and encouraged….I can do this! I was so thankful that Whitney was there and was surprised to find a client there as well! Apparently my client had been doing MotivFit classes and personal training sessions as a way of getting into amazing shape after having a baby! So, with a great support system next to me and really encouraging instructors we began our journey of what was the most difficult workout of my life.
And, guess what? I survived! And, while my body is sore, I am doing it again tonight! Woohoo!
Can’t wait to see how I look and feel in 2 weeks. Bikini? - you better be ready for me!

Birthday Girl - Las Vegas Boudoir Photographer
Mrs G and I had been talking for months planning for her photo shoot. She was going to be doing her shoot in honor of her upcoming 30th birthday. She came in with some great ideas and awesome outfits! I especially love the outfit she wore that was a pretty lace black bra with black panties and waist high fishnets! I had been hoping someone would bring an outfit with fishnets like that for so long, so when she pulled that out of her bag I was so excited! I just knew it would photograph beautifully. I am just head over heels for her photos….aren’t they lovely? We had a great time during her shoot and then she left and hopped a flight (looking like a total movie star) for the rest of her birthday celebration in New York and Washington DC!
Hope you had a grand birthday Mrs G! Thank you for letting me be a part of it!

Wish List Wednesday
This week I have lots of home decor items on my wish-list.
First up is an office chair I have been lusting over for years. I love the shape of these, but wonder if they are comfortable enough for someone who spends hours upon hours at their desk. If any of you own a chair similar to this, I would love to hear your opinion on the comfort of them.
Yesterday I stumbled upon this living room display for Z Gallerie. I thought it was decadently beautiful. I am normally drawn to white furniture or something like this (a neutral gray) where you can add pops of color to the room with artwork and accents.
I have come to the conclusion that my all-time favorite kitchen and bathroom countertop material is Carrara Marble. Michelangelo used this type of marble for his famous David statue. I am totally obsessed with it right now. What is your favorite countertop surface?

Tonight’s the Night! Las Vegas Boudoir
It’s Haute Shots first anniversary and I’m excited to be celebrating it this evening with all of you! It’s because of YOU that Haute Shots has come this far, so it’s really a party for all of us! Shooting a Shooter - Las Vegas Boudoir
In the time leading up to WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Professionals International) conference last month I had quite a few inquiries from other boudoir photographers who were going to be in town and wanted to get a boudoir session from me for themselves. Unfortunately I had to turn away all but one pretty lady due to my crazy schedule that week. I felt so bad about not being able to do all of the shoots but am grateful for the opportunity to have done at least one shoot for another photographer.
I have to admit I was nervous as all get out (then again, I’m always nervous about EVERYTHING…lol)! When shooting for another photographer, you know you are dealing with a person who has a highly trained eye so the pressure to deliver perfection is even stronger. But, Mrs T walked in and put my nerves at ease with her charming personality, fun ideas for her shoot and her absolute beauty. It ended up being one of the funnest shoots ever! Something about her reminded me of Kate Beckinsale…she is a real looker! And the girl knew how to pose!
Thank you Mrs. T for a fabulous time! Looking forward to next year when we can do it again!
