Bangs Poll | Las Vegas Boudoir
Alrightie, so I have a hair appointment on Thursday morning and I am considering getting bangs. I feel like I need some sort of change with this being a fresh new year and all, but I’m completely undecided. I need your help. I would love to get your opinion on whether you think I should just go for it or not. Here are two pics of me…one is current with no bangs and the other is old with bangs.I have a rather difficult time with change when it comes to my appearance but I feel like my hair is looking a little blah the way it is now. Hmmm…what to do…
What is your vote? Yes on bangs or no???

Inspired: Iris Apfel
Let’s face it, getting older is a daunting fact of life for any woman. Style icon, Iris Apfel actually makes me look more forward to it though. My grandmother was also a very stylish woman…always knew how to add a little glamour to every outfit. So, bring on the huge eye-glasses and load me up with accessories….elegant & fashionable aging, here I come! I actually think I will be braver with my fashion sense as I age.
Here is a great video on Iris. Such a fascinating woman! Hope you enjoy learning about her and her wisdom on personal style sensibility.

Boudoir-Style Art throughout the Ages | Las Vegas Boudoir Photography
Boudoir as an artform is nothing new really. In fact, it’s always been around, it just gets a more modernized facelift every once in awhile. Throughout history we can see it in famous old paintings, early photographs, etc. The biggest difference with boudoir between now and then though besides modernization, is it has been made more affordable in recent years for the everyday woman to be able to experience this luxury service. Back in the Art Deco period, for example, only high society women could commission artists (such as one of my all-time favorite painters, Tamara de Lempicka) to paint them in seductive poses for their personal collection of art. Pretty fabulous, huh? Here are some examples from Tamara that she painted for these well-to-do beauties in the 1920′s (Click on thumbnails for full versions):

What’s Sexy Now Series | Las Vegas Boudoir
This installment of What’s Sexy Now features hair stylist extraordinaire, Whitney, from our very own Hera Beauty and also Hot Box.
- What makes a woman sexy?
Confidence. - Famous female that most embodies sexy to you.
Scarlett Johansson. I love a woman who owns her curves. - Favorite sexy film or literature (or both)
Secretary. Sensuous, taboo, seductive, how much sexier could a movie get? - Fashion trend, item or designer collection that you find sexy
I’m really loving the lingerie as outerwear trend right now. - Sexy destination
Anywhere can be sexy, even your kitchen. It’s more about the attitude than the destination. - What makes you feel sexy?
I always feel sexy in 4 inch heels… as long as I don’t have to walk too far!

Wednesday Wish List – Summer Style | Las Vegas Boudoir
Pool season is pretty big in Vegas, so on my radar this Wednesday are looks that are perfect for summer. I love lip stains during the summertime, as they last forever and look more natural than regular lipsticks. You can also use them on your cheeks for a hint of color. And, of course, you have to have a cute bikini, a cover-up, cool shades and sexy shoes!
Style Idea: Sheer Simplicity | Las Vegas Boudoir
Just did a shoot last week with a pretty lady who brought in the cutest sheer top from Forever 21 to use as one of her ‘looks’! This is a great idea if you like the idea of topless but are a little timid about the idea! This particular clients top was adorable…kind-of a lacy top that was meant for layering over a camisole and it was open to the waist, where it cinched in and had buttons at the bottom to keep it pulled together. It also had sparkly accents around the lining. It was sooo pretty! If you are looking for something a little different, I would encourage you to look for things like this from your regular wardrobe even.
Here are a few fairly similar looks I found on a quick search:
Boudoir Styling Idea | Las Vegas Boudoir Photographer
Awhile back I was browsing the Kiki De Montparnasse website and found the most amazing little outfit for a boudoir session….a Garter Tank! Isn’t this the coolest thing ever? Pair it with sexy panties, fishnet stockings and a multi-strand necklace to give it an extra ‘edge’.
Well, imagine my excitement when my boudoir client came in with that exact outfit yesterday! I was even more inspired when she told me her idea for that ‘look’….she wanted to wet the tank for the photos! We got shots of her in the bathtub pouring water out of a vessel onto herself. And, the pictures look AMAZING! I so wish I could share them! I promised to keep them private for her and her hubby-to-be though…sorry girls! But we could always recreate this look at any time if any of you are interested!
Garter Tank is also available at ShopBop.
Another take on the ‘tank look’ could be pairing a regular tank top (knotted in front or back) with these amazing bottoms!
So many fun ideas! Just think outside of the box a little. Afterall, you want to add a little fantasy to at least one of your looks for your photos.

Cosmetics – What I’m Liking Right Now
I have been using eyeliner pencil for so many years that I had forgotten how much I loved a good liquid eyeliner. I recently bought one in black by Colorstay Revlon and am loving how quick and easy it is to use! I no longer have to set my pencil eyeliner with eyeshadow, so that saves me a step! M•A•C Pigments are always fun for eyeshadow and they last so long! And if you haven’t tried TARTE blush yet, you must give it a go! It gives your skin a healthy, slightly more dewy glow than powder blush could. And finally, I was addicted to volumizing mascaras until I tried Flawless Definition by Bare Escentuals. I was so tired of the big brush trend with volumizing mascaras and am relieved to be using a smaller brush again. And my lashes look perfectly defined, a bit glossy and never clumpy!
What are your favorite cosmetics right now?
Lashes for your Boudoir Shoot
My absolute favorite accessory (I know I have mentioned this before) for your boudoir shoot is fake lashes. Lashes combined with a smoky eyeshadow and dark eyeliner adds so much to your look! When shopping for lashes for a photo shoot, remember that you want them to be more dramatic than what you would normally wear, so skip over the more natural looking ones and go for some them are a little longer, thicker and maybe spikier but not too theatrical. I thought the Ardell Fashion Lashes #116 (pictured) were quite nice. They could be a little bit thicker and less sparse, but they would still look really good. The idea is to make your eyes really stand out in your pictures, and these will help for sure!
Inexpensive Jewelry Ideas for your Boudoir Shoot
Looking to get last minute, inexpensive jewelry for your boudoir shoot? Look no further than Forever 21. They have lots of fun and funky pieces.
Style: Hair Accessories for your Boudoir Photo Session
I am loving these feather hair accessories by Haute Bride. I’ve begun noticing a trend with women wearing a flower in their hair more often (saw this a few times at TAO Beach recently…cute accessory to go with a bikini!). Bring a pretty hair ornament to your boudoir shoot for a fun, quick way to add some drama to one of your ‘looks’.
How French Women Define Beauty
Feeling beautiful from the inside-out is the goal for French women. They take very good care of their skin and never skimp on pretty lingerie. See for yourself on this video from Oprah.com.

Setting Myself Apart from the Pack
When I started this blog I had a decision to make – do I want to keep it strictly boudoir photos like every other photographer was doing or do I want to offer insights into my personal life as well as styling ideas? I decided to offer a little bit of everything. The reason for this was that I wanted to show a glimpse of who I am on my blog. I think the relationship between photographer and client is so important so I wanted you to be able to get to know me a little better before choosing me to do your intimate photos. I also wanted to be able to give you enough tips to have a successful shoot, whether you come to me or ultimately decide on another photographer. It is my love for Boudoir that made me do it.
So, dear readers, do you enjoy my blog entries that offer advice, style ideas or a look into my personal life? It was a hard decision to make since other photographers were sticking strictly to just their boudoir shoots, but that meant they weren’t updating regularly. Although I am starting to notice other boudoir photographers are starting to offer more advice etc too all of a sudden. I personally, liked setting myself apart from the pack and hope that you do too, so I can continue to post things that I think are of value to those considering a boudoir shoot.
You also may have noticed that I decided to go against the grain when it came time to design my website. I didn’t go with the standard photography template that you see others using. Again, a tough decision, but I think it was a good one. What do you think?
Oh Cheri! Lingerie for your Boudoir Shoot
I recently received a sweet email from Cheri of Oh Cheri! just saying she liked my work (I love emails like that!). But even better than the nice compliment was becoming acquainted with her cool site! She offers a grand collection of lingerie. She even has an extensive collection for girls with curves. Make sure to check her site out!

Hooked Design – Jewelry
I was browsing Addiction Fashion Boutique’s website and noticed that Owner Operator Jessica Hanlon has her own line of jewelry that she sells in store as well as on Etsy. I like her style! See Hooked Design in person: 10271 S. Eastern Ave. Henderson NV 89052
How catchy is the name Hooked, especially since her other business name is Addiction? Love it!

Guest Blogger – Frou Frou Fashionista
I’d like to introduce my readers to some of the most fabulous ladies I have stumbled across in quite some time….Alison and Gail Rubke (daughter and mother) of Faire Frou Frou Boutique and the Frou Frou Fashionista Blog. I personally can’t wait to see their boutique in person the next time I am in Southern CA. I am absolutely honored to have these stylish women doing a Guest Blogger appearance on my own blog! Please extend a warm welcome to them and by all means, go check out their fashionable boutique and blog! Hope you enjoy their article and provided imagery below. I hope many of you will gain lots of inspiration from their article when contemplating what to wear for your boudoir photoshoot!
Old Hollywood Glamour – Lingerie-Style
We love how some of today’s lingerie styles evoke the sophistication and glamour of old Hollywood! It seems like many contemporary designers are trying to recapture the essence of lingerie in its heyday, and they are doing so with some very fun results. Retro styles are certainly in ‘comeback’ mode, particularly with the high-waist panties and contrast-seamed stockings. We especially love the look of a beautiful satin robe with ostrich feather trim – the ultimate in decadence!
Some designers that we carry in our boutique (Faire Frou Frou) do a wonderful job with the retro look: Fifi Chachnil, Miss Lala Presents, and Made by Niki. Now you can create your own glamorous lingerie ensemble! Have fun!
Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
How much fun is this? I absolutely love Victoria’s Secret fashion shows. So full of girly inspiration. I don’t know about you, but it makes me want to go work out immediately! Full of lingerie goodness and check out all the cool accessories…

Jewelry Box
One of the effects for me of shooting boudoir photography, has been a sudden interest in accessories…specifically jewelry. I see how much it adds to the imagery and adds to the personality of a woman in general. I am now under the realization that I very much need a jewelry box. What are you ladies using to store your jewelry?
